New Mama Nurture
Tuesday 14th January 2024, 14.00 - 16.00. Jointly run with Michele Misgala
Oru Space, East Dulwich, London (in person)
This monthly session is specially designed for new mamas at any time post birth, no matter what your labour and birth journey may have been. A safe, nurturing and non-judgemental space to share your feelings about your birth and the first weeks of parenthood.
You will learn movements, stretches and breathing techniques to safely and effectively recover and reconnect with your body after birth. You can also get expert advice from special guests including lactation consultants, midwives and physios.
It's a great way to meet other new mums, or catch up with friends you made in the prenatal yoga/pilates classes. Wear loose comfortable clothes you can move easily in. Mats and other props are provided, bring anything you need for your baby. Feel free to feed, cuddle and calm your baby as needed throughout the session.
Yoga for Peri-menopause
Sunday 26th January 2025, 14.00 - 16.00
Oru Space, East Dulwich, London (in person)
In this workshop we look at the physiology of what’s going on during perimenopause, and the triggers that can aggravate the most common and intense symptoms, such as fatigue, mood swings, hot flushes and lack of zest for life. We will practice yoga for soothing these unsettling symptoms and also get snuggled in with some deeply soothing guided Yoga Nidra meditation to explore the transformational possibilities.
We will explore a toolkit of techniques, guidance, reflection and support to help you move through your menopause journey with ease and confidence. It will provide an enjoyable and safe space where women can come together and share their experiences, laugh and embrace the changes while also learning from one another.
Practising yoga in the company of other women can feel supportive and reminds us that we are NOT alone.
No previous yoga experience is required.
The workshop will include:
• An introduction to the stages of menopause and how hormone changes affect our body and mind.
• A safe and supportive women’s circle.
• A yoga practice especially designed to alleviate the most common perimenopause symptoms, including breathing techniques, gentle vinyasa flow, restorative yoga and mindful meditation practices.
• Journaling and self-reflection.
• Handouts
“It only takes a reminder to breathe, a moment to be still, and just like that, something in you settles, softens, makes space for imperfection.”
— Danna Faulds, from ‘Walk Slowly’
